Del Barber (Canada) and C.R. Avery (Canada)
19th Nov 2014
Presenter: The Melbourne Folk Club
Website: http://www.themelbournefolkclub.com
Event Duration: 135 minutes
Del Barber is touring Australia for the first time playing Mullumbimby Music Festival, Woodford Folk Festival and the Festival of Small Halls while C.R. Avery is here for the second time, playing Mullumbimby Music Festival and touring around the country.
We have seen Del quite a bit on our overseas travels and he is a classic troubadour. Incredible storyteller, songwriter and singer and forever on the road touring the world. He'll be out promoting his fourth album Prairieography showing us why he has been nominated for both JUNO and Canadian Folk Music Awards in recent years. Check out THIS beautiful video for his song The Waitress.
C.R. Avery will blow your mind. He was the best act we saw at Woodford Folk Festival last year, combining spoken word, beat boxing, harmonica, piano blue ballads, hip hop, funk and pure life affirming goodness and energy that had people out of their seats. Here are a few quotes praising him:
"He's blown' my mind" - Tom Waits
"… international treasure" - Jolie Holland
"No one plays harmonica like him. No one" - Charlie Musselwhite
"First there were the beats…then there was Hunter S. Thompson…now there is C.R. Avery" Luke Starr, Kruger Magazine
