Rosa Mitchell is passionate about food and how it links history, tradition, family and friends. With no formal training, Rosa cooks from her heart, from a life surrounded by food. She arrived in Australia from Sicily when she was seven years old and while her parents were out working, she helped prepare meals for her family.
Rosa began working at Gertrude Street Enoteca for her friend Brigitte Hafner, whom she had met through the local chapter of Slow Food. Soon she was running the kitchen at Journal Canteen, in the city, where her home-style Sicilian cooking was given free rein, winning hearts and stomachs alike. Rosa decided to take a 12-month break whilst waiting for the perfect space - 22 Punch Lane, Rosa’s Kitchen.
Together with her husband Colin, Rosa also run a small vineyard in Central Victoria specialising in Italian varietal wines
