Poet Biographies
Judith Rodriguez’ first collection was published over 50 years ago, and she continues to have work published today. She is known for her poems about women's experiences; the title poem of Witch Heart (1982), published by the feminist press Sisters, records a visit to Robyn Archer's play about the often disastrous lives of famous women performers, A Star is Torn. In 1986 she was writer-in-residence at Rollins College, Florida, an experience commemorated in her ninth collection Floridian Poems (1986).
In 1989 she took up a lectureship in writing at Victoria College, which in 1993 became part of Deakin University, where she continued until 2003. The same year Rodriguez also collaborated with Australian composer Moya Henderson on the opera Lindy, about Lindy Chamberlain, which premiered at the Sydney Opera House, and with Robyn Archer on the play Poor Johanna, produced in Adelaide in 1994. Judith Rodriguez's most recent book, The Hanging of Minnie Thwaites (Arcade Books), is a long ballad and lyrics accompanied by a historical account of its tragic subject. Judith teaches poetry writing at the CAE and works for International PEN.

Felix Nobis is two-times winner of the Australian Poetry Cup, and was awarded “Best Feature” in the 2008 Overload Poetry Festival. He has written a number of poetic monologues including Under an Open Minded Sky in collaboration with musician Roger Alsop as Poet in Residence for Hawthorn City Council, and Once Upon a Barstool which toured Ireland and enjoyed seasons at La Mama in Melbourne and across regional Victoria.
In 2000, Felix produced a poetic translation of the Anglo-Saxon Beowulf (published by Bradshaw Books) which he toured as a one-person-show through Europe, America and Australia, twice selling out at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In 2007 the translation was adapted to radio and broadcast on the ABC Radio National Poetica program. Felix recently completed a play in verse Boy Out of the Country which will be produced later this year at 45 Downstairs.
