Event Duration: 50 minutes

The Nukes have been writing original tunes for the ukulele for 4 years (ever since they first got together).  In that time they have recorded two albums of their songs, received an award for best original uke song (2008), been part of a major NZ documentary and performed at many prestigious festivals. In this workshop you will receive tips on how to put a songwriting toolbox together, including:
•    Where to start when writing songs for the uke
•    Finding and creating interesting subject matter
•    How to create interesting and complimentary strums, rhythms, textures and arrangements
•    How to use the voice (and becoming confident with singing).
•    How to take your songs to the stage and to the studio

Out of the beautiful west of Auckland come The Nukes, full of good humour and charm, and a certain something that makes audiences tap their toes, grin from ear to ear, and sometimes even shed the odd tear. This original New Zealand ukulele trio have quickly made a big name for themselves appearing on the Good Morning Show and National Radio, playing Bob Harvey's 70th (they love nothing better than a good birthday party), and touring round the country doing workshops and gigs - invariably to full houses.
