The Last Gig in Melbourne - SLAM Eve
22nd Feb 2012
Presenter: Geraldine Quinn
Website: http://www.geraldinequinn.com/
Event Duration: 75 minutes
With the first national Save Live Australian Music (SLAM) day on 23 February 2012, and on hiatus from the Comedy Festival after seven years, Quinn reprises this much-lauded event for ONE NIGHT ONLY.
Since the initial season of The Last Gig in Melbourne, The Prince of Wales in St Kilda has been sold. The East Brunswick Club (where Quinn recorded her live CD in 2008) has announced it will be shut down. Local music icon Molly Meldrum (in honour of whom Quinn penned the show’s prog rock song Do Yourself A Favour) has suffered a terrible accident from which we hope he will swiftly recover.
It seems there’s still a lot more to say on the state of live music. The Last Gig in Melbourne returns for one night to say it.
Joining Geraldine on this emotional journey about not appreciating a good thing until its gone are award-winning musicians Casey Bennetto (Vocals & Keys), Sonja Horbelt (Drums) Martin Lubran (Guitar) and Tamara Murphy (Bass) in a reprise of this incomparable show.
