War Child, an award-winning documentary directed by C. Karim Chrobog, chronicles the tumultuous, shocking, inspiring, and ultimately hopeful odyssey of Emmanuel Jal. A former child soldier of Sudan's brutal civil war, he is now an emerging international hip hop star sharing a message of peace for his war-torn land and beloved Africa.

Bella Union will be screening this eye opening documentary on 25 August as a community awareness project and to promote the upcoming tour of hip hop sensation Emmanuel Jal which includes a major concert at The Corner Hotel, Richmond on 21 October, 2011.

Jal will also be doing speaking engagements with The Wheeler Centre and The Brotherhood of St. Laurence as well working closely with the Sudanese community in Melbourne through workshops organised with Multicultural Arts Victoria and Footprints Inc.
