John Cale, undeniably the unique core of the Velvet Underground, quits to produce a string of seminal albums by Nico, The Stooges, Patti Smith (Horses), the Modern Lovers, The Smiths... And even the hit album for UK Squeeze! During the mid 70s the soon-to-be Punks blunt their needles on his solo albums. Now he works with the likes of Brian Eno and/or some young band he's plucked from a New York club. The man is undeniably an enormous influence on Australia's music scene and fills concert halls here on a regular basis.

As a tribute to the man a group of musicians from Melbourne's Punk era have created the Slow Dazzle Project. Sean Kelly(vocals) and Andrew Duffield(keys) represent the Models (ARIA Hall Of Fame) at their finest. Quirky, catchy, Post Punk Pop with abstract lyrics and killer hooks, the Models were the hardest working and most popular live act in Australia during the early 80s before their successful but short push into America. Clare Moore (Moodists, White Buffaloes, Coral Snakes, Lurid Yellow Mist, Dave Graney Show, etc, etc) is one of the most respected drummers to rise from Melbourne's Post Punk scene and a great singer as she proved with the Clare Moore Band. Rob Wellington (guitar) and Adam Learner (bass) go back to '79 (International Exiles, Wild Dog Rodeo, Blue Ruin) but somehow have survived to create, the PANG, arguably the hottest new Rock outfit in town. Their singer Vanessa providing the extraordinary backing vocals featured in Cale's albums.
