From its beginnings in 2004, what’s now known as Trade Aid has been combining festival artists, music and laughter to raise over $25,000 for important community organizations.

Under the curatorial care of Scott Edgar (Tripod), later joined by Casey Bennetto (KEATING!), the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre Benefit gigs have celebrated the music of Ray Charles (2004), Burt Bacharach (2005), Bob Dylan (2006), They Might Be Giants (2007), Prince (2008) and Bowie (2009) in front of sell-out audiences who marvelled as artists as diverse as Harry Angus, the Suitcase Royale, Tim Minchin, Adam Hills, Clare Bowditch, Tripod and Eddie Perfect (and dozens more) gave their all.

Every single year’s show has been overflowing with memorable performances and surprises: brilliant renditions, dramatic reinterpretations and, just to keep things lively, the occasional outright travesty. Now in its seventh year, Scott and Casey are bringing more of their insanely talented friends to the party for Something Good.

This year? This year, you may well feel the earth move under your feet. Consider: You’ve Got A Friend. The Loco-Motion. It’s Too Late. One Fine Day. (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman. Don’t Bring Me Down. Will You Love Me Tomorrow? This year, all roads lead to the absolutely astounding songwriting portfolio of the legendary Carole King, and something tells us we’re into Something Good.

ELANA STONE, WES SNELLING, NICK ROY, GERALDINE QUINN, ANDY McCLELLAND, ALI MCGREGOR, LIOR, AURORA KURTH, XANI KOLAC, KIRSTY JOOSTEN, BEAU HEARTBREAKER, SIMON HALL, STEVEN GATES, GEORGIA FIELDS, DEFAH DATTNER, CLARE BOWDITCH and REBECCA BARNARD have already signed up for 2010; they and many more will join Scott, Casey and an all-star band for what promises to be another spectacular Trade Aid ASRC benefit. It’s easier than learnin’ your ABC, so come on, come on – grab a ticket before it’s too late, baby. Hail to the King!

All proceeds to the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC); the largest provider of aid, advocacy and health services for asylum seekers in Australia.
