Nigel Wearne and Ayleen O'Hanlon
16th Aug 2017
Presenter: The Round Up at Bella
Website: https://www.bellaunion.com.au/event/1095/
Event Duration: 120 minutes
Equipped with personally handcrafted guitars, Nigel Wearne melds finger-style guitar, clawhammer banjo, folk and honest storytelling.
Gleaning influence from Kelly Joe Phelps, Townes Van Zandt and Sun Kil Moon, he tells stories of forgotten rebels, wandering poets and his love of eggs. Wearne’s current album 'Drawing Circles' is a solo record that’s raw, compelling and reflective.
A storyteller at heart, he paints lyrical pictures with frayed poetic edges and honest grit.
“One of Australia's emerging songwriters” – Tone Deaf

O’Hanlon is a seasoned performer whose knack for honest storytelling combined with an unmatched stage presence make her live show a rare thing to behold. Her debut album ‘Blend and Spill’ evokes widescreen imagery and “blooms with veracious songs and sounds" – Rhythms Magazine.
“Her vocals wrap their arms around you like the gentle caress of Mazzy Star’s Hope Sandoval. You don’t just sit there and listen, you feel it, and the sound holds on to you tight.” – Desert Highways
