Melbourne. September. Football. As Australian and inseparable as Sand, Surf and Sun.
Tuesday 30th September heralds the inception of a show which will become as much a part of football culture as the MCG, the Brownlow medal and Sam Newman’s big mouth.
200 fans in full team colours will pack Trades Hall’s New Ballroom to witness a celebration of all things footy. Two fiercely intelligent and passionate performers present a pageant of commentary, characters, sketches and songs that fuse as seamlessly as the Geelong midfield to deliver a premiership performance.
This Fringe special event with GUEST STARS aplenty crashes the packs confronting hard hitting questions such as what the Fremantle fan who rang a bell for every Peter Bell goal will do now that Bell has retired.
And we bring an EXCLUSIVE INVESTIGATION into the controversial theory that it was Andrew Demetriou’s YIAYIA orchestrating the AFL’s attempt to relocate North Melbourne.
The core cast of two best-and-fairest winners includes:
Yianni Agisilaou (8 year North Melbourne Member)
“full of wit and swift remarks” (Three Weeks – Edinburgh)
Nick Caddaye (10 year Carlton Member)
“Mr Nick certainly has the gift of the gab” (The Age)
Plus sketch support from the cast of the Anarchist Guild Social Committee (including Andrew McClelland) and improvised musical support from SET LIST (Emma Muiznieks, Karin Muiznieks, Dan Walmsley and Ben McKenzie)
The 2008 AFL Season Review is a completely original concept in football entertainment
